Who is this closed water systems training for?
Typical candidates for WTS 0060 will be facilities managers, water treatment service engineers, maintenance and engineering contractors, plant operators and those with responsibility for the installation, pre-commissioning and maintenance of commercial and industrial closed water systems used in heating, chilled and cooling water installations.
What will you learn about closed systems?
WTS 0060 will give candidates an awareness of the operation of closed water systems including closed heating, chilled and cooling systems.
Candidates will gain a thorough understanding of the problems associated with scale, corrosion, bio-fouling and suspended solids in closed circuit water systems. They will also understand the issues associated with microbiological proliferation and fouling.
Candidates will develop the skills to design and implement cost effective water pre-treatment and treatment programmes for closed systems.
Candidates will also develop the skills to perform basic water quality analysis tests and learn how to interpret the results so as to effectively monitor, control and manage closed system heating and cooling circuits.
Additionally, candidates will develop the skills to conduct basic fault-finding and prepare cost effective solutions to common problems affecting closed water systems.

Are there pre-qualification requirements?
WTS 0060 “Closed Water Systems – Heating & Cooling Water Circuits” is an intensive course designed for facilities managers, water treatment engineers, maintenance and engineering contractors, and those with responsibility for the operation and maintenance of commercial and industrial closed water systems.
Candidates must have successfully completed our course WTS 0010 “Basic Chemistry of Water & Analysis”.
Prior knowledge and experience of closed water systems and issues associated with water treatment would also be of benefit. We typically recommend a minimum of 6 months practical in-field experience before starting this course. However, if you do not have this please speak with one of our training team.
Water treatment training certificate
On successful completion candidates will receive a certificate of attainment issued by Water Treatment Services for the course “Closed Water Systems – Heating & Cooling Water Circuits” – WTS 0060.
This certificate should be retained as evidence of formal training in this subject.
How long is the course?
The duration of this course is one day. Training materials, lunch and refreshments are all included.
Where are when is the training held?
Our main UK training centres are located in central London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and Glasgow, and these are supported by satellite training centres in Belfast and Newcastle.
Training for our specialist water and wastewater treatment courses is currently limited to our Manchester and London trainingcentres.
We can also deliver our training courses exclusively at client premises, and further afield for clients based outside the UK.
